ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (BHN) - Relations between the United States and Pakistan have taken a sudden and dramatic turn for the worse due to events in recent days.
"Forcefully killing and removing an individual from our country, even one so reprehensible as Osama bin Laden, without our expressed permission was unacceptable, said Pakistan Foreign Minister Ahwet Masouf. "But punishing us by replacing him with someone twice as repugnant is beyond the pale, and we demand you remove Senator Kerry immediately."
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton defended the decision to send Kerry to Pakistan, saying that country "has to be taught a lesson" for sheltering bin Laden, and vowed to leave the Senator there "until we feel they have."
My comments: I think Barry really overreacted here - bombing Islamabad would have been a more measured response.
