JERUSALEM (WNB) - Israel’s military downed a Hamas drone sent from Gaza on Monday. The unpiloted aircraft flew from the port city of Ashdod, about 14 miles north of the Palestinian enclave. It was the first drone known to have been sent into Israel from Gaza, adding a chilling new element to the week-old conflict.
The military air wing of Hamas claimed responsibility for sending the drone, describing the event on its website as one of the "surprises" it had promised over the last week.
An Israeli military spokesman downplayed the threat, saying the aircraft (below) consisted of a "crappy RC plane carrying a bag of dog sh*t."
