TEL AVIV, Israel (WNB) - In response to the United Nations on Thursday condemning Israel for not sharing Iron Dome technology with Hamas, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have begun delivering missile defense systems to Hamas in Gaza.
"Never let it be said that the Israeli government is not sensitive to the wishes of the United Nations," said Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon on Friday. Dubbed "Metal Dome," the units are a slightly lower-tech version of the Iron Dome system that has been highly effective at blocking incoming Hamas rockets.
Initial Hamas reaction to Metal Dome was less than enthusiastic. Field Commander Ah-wil Kheelyu told reporters Friday afternoon, "It's an umbrella. No rockets or circuits or wires or anything, just a f*cking cheap umbrella with tin instead of cloth, may Allah curse the Jew bastards to Hell."
Palestinian sources say early trials of the Israeli-made system have been "mixed."
