ATLANTA (WNB) - U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns that antibiotic-resistant sexually transmitted diseases are rapidly spreading throughout the country.
Researchers have identified New York state as the epicenter of the increase, with new cases of gonorrhea, syphilis, and chlamydia skyrocketing over the last decade, especially in the affluent area of Westchester County. "We don't exactly know why an area like this would have this distinction - STD outbreaks are usually more common in low-income, inner-city neighborhoods," said one CDC official.
